This register publishes company records. Some of those records are also personal data, and this page says so rather than working around it. Last updated 7 September 2026.
Not legal advice. These pages were drafted with care, but not by a solicitor. Before launch a solicitor should read all three. Anything in square brackets is a gap the owner has to close first.
The short version
We publish company facts from official registers. We publish the town and the postcode district of a registered office, never the street address and never a full postcode. We publish no director's name. If you want an entry gone, say so and it goes, with no reason needed. We hold no analytics that identify you.
Why this notice is not boilerplate
A registered office is a company fact. For a great many small companies it is also somebody's home, usually a director's. So part of what we publish is a company record and personal data at the same time, and pretending otherwise would be the easy thing rather than the honest one. Everything below follows from that, including the decision to cut the address down before it is ever written to disk.
What we publish, and what we do not
About each company
Company name. Registration number. The register it sits on. Status. Incorporation date. The town and county of the registered office. The postcode district, which is the outward part only, such as EC1A. SIC codes. The accounts category the company files under. The date the record was retrieved. Where a company is Checked, the address of its own website and the date we confirmed the number on it.
What we never publish
The street address. The full postcode. The names of directors, secretaries, shareholders or people with significant control. Anyone's date of birth. Any email address or phone number we come across while confirming a website. Anything copied from another directory. One thing we cannot avoid: where a person's name is part of the registered company name, it appears, because that is the name of the company.
Why we can promise that
The street lines of the address are never read out of the bulk file at all. The full postcode is read, cut to its outward code and dropped in the same step, so only the district is ever written to disk. Data that is not held cannot leak, and cannot be published by accident in a later change.
The map
Pins sit at the centre of a postcode district or a town. They never sit at a building. The map is built to answer who is near me, and it is built so that it cannot answer where does this person live.
Our lawful basis for publishing
We publish register facts on the basis of legitimate interests, under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR. The interest is plain: people buying managed IT need to find providers and confirm they are real, registered companies, and providers benefit from being findable. The underlying data is already published by the state as open data under the Open Government Licence, and what we publish is a reduced version of it with the date it was retrieved.
We weighed that against the effect on people whose home is their registered office. That is why the address is cut to the district, why no director is named anywhere on the site, and why removal takes one email and no reason. We do not rely on consent, so nothing here depends on anyone having agreed to be listed. We publish no special category data, and we do not profile anyone.
Objecting, and how fast it happens
You do not have to give a reason
You have the right to object to us publishing an entry. In practice we do not weigh the objection up, because a register nobody can leave is worth less than one anybody can. Ask, and it goes. Nothing is asked in return.
How to ask
Email register@ouridea.ai with the company number, or the address of the page. The full route is on the Removal page, which is one page long on purpose.
How long it takes
We reply within five working days. The entry disappears at the next build. The register rebuilds monthly, so if that is too slow, say so and we will run a build. Either way it is gone within one calendar month of the request, which is the deadline the UK GDPR sets.
What we keep afterwards
The company number goes on a suppression list, so the next monthly pull cannot put the entry back. No reason is recorded next to it, because no reason was asked for. Your email sits in our mailbox like any other email. Ask us to delete it and we will.
Corrections
Register facts are corrected at the register. We follow the official record, and the next monthly pull would overwrite anything we changed by hand. If the wrong thing is on our side, such as the wrong website against an entry, email us and we will fix it.
How long we keep things
The published register is replaced whole every month, so the site is a current copy rather than an archive. The source repository keeps earlier builds as part of its version history.
Visitors to this site
No analytics that identify you
We run no analytics. There are no cookies, no tracking pixels, no advertising tags and no third party scripts in the page as it loads. We hold nothing that identifies a visitor and we do not know who reads these pages. If analytics are ever added, this page will say so before they go live, and the date at the top will change.
One exception, and it is the map
If you scroll down to the map on the home page, your browser fetches the mapping library from cdnjs.cloudflare.com and the map tiles from basemaps.cartocdn.com. Those two services see your IP address and which page asked, as they would for any site that loads a file from them. Nothing is requested until the map comes into view, so a visitor who never scrolls to it never touches either. Neither service reports anything back to us.
Server logs
The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any host it keeps request logs, which include IP addresses, in order to serve the site and to deal with abuse. We do not use those logs to identify or profile anybody, and we build nothing from them.
Where the files sit
The site is a set of static files served through a content delivery network, so a page is served from whichever location is nearest to you. [INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER WORDING, TO BE CONFIRMED AGAINST THE HOSTING CONTRACT].
Your rights, and who is responsible
You can ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, and object to us publishing it. Email register@ouridea.ai. If you are not happy with how we handle it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
